Synopsis

Is a documentary about women who have lost their husbands whilst working thousand of meters underground. Women submitted to permanent anguish, to fate, to premonitions, to their families… Women who also have a singular sense of humour. Women who are widows of miners.

Intentions

Showing the human side and the environment of these women whose husbands died in mining accidents between 1940 and 1996. All of them belong to different generations, from the eighty to the twenty three years old widow.

Though their personalities, we discover the economic situation of a region, the dreams of thousand of professionals and the life of families on the face of the coalmines.

“Alone in the Earth” is a social testimony of one of the hardest, most legendary and most conflicting professions, that is rapidly disappearing.
